John Henry F. Bacon’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’

Different Kinds of Love, by JKForward

I feel a kind of pity for those in the wild burst of infatuation, bazodee to use the Creole word or the Tagalog kilig for butterflies in the stomach.  My compassion comes from a combination of the distant memory of being in its uncomfortable throes and a wish for young lovers to survive the long and slow transition into s’apprivoiser, ‘being tamed’ in French; to have settled comfortably into a trusting, understanding of each other, to the point of sitting wordless together, with breathing matched, (as the Japanese would say, ah-un) at watching a light breeze making riplets on a still lake.
